There are two types of embryo transfers: fresh and frozen

Surrogate Katie got this beautiful positive ovulation test!!! She’s having a fresh embryo transfer, so this indicates she’ll be able to start medications soon!
There are two types of embryo transfers: fresh and frozen. During a fresh embryo transfer cycle the fertility doctor (RE) will match up the surrogate’s cycle with the right timing of the egg donor cycle. This allows the surrogate to have the  transfer as soon as the embryos are created. In order to do this, the doctor needs to know the surrogate’s ovulation date so they can calculate the transfer dates from that.
In a frozen cycle embryos are created in the same way as fresh embryos, but instead of being transferred immediately, they are frozen until the surrogate is ready for the embryo transfer. We think science is pretty amazing. Love + science = family
